Final draft RTS on instruments for variable remuneration under IFD

The draft Regulatory Technical Standards specify that Additional Tier 1, Tier 2, and Other Instruments used for variable remuneration must include uniform minimum trigger events for write-down or conversion based on the Common Equity Tier 1 capital ratio. These instruments must adequately reflect the credit quality of the investment firm as a going concern, with trigger levels set above regulatory minimum requirements. For investment firms that do not issue such instruments, national competent authorities may approve alternative arrangements that ensure variable remuneration value is reduced when risks adversely affect performance or that can be converted into Common Equity Tier 1 capital.
