Financial Crimes Enforcement Network: Amendment Regarding Financial Institutions Exempt from Establishing Anti-Money Laundering Programs

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network amends 31 CFR section 103.170 to remove the temporary exemptions for dealers in precious metals, stones, or jewels and insurance companies from the requirement to establish anti-money laundering programs. This final rule deletes paragraphs (b)(1)(i) and (b)(1)(ix) from the regulation and redesignates the remaining paragraphs to reflect that these entities are now subject to program requirements. The amendment becomes effective on January 11, 2008.
