FinCEN Calls Attention to Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crimes
Financial institutions must reference the keyword OCSE-FIN-2021-NTC3 in SAR field 2 and select SAR Field 38(z) to indicate a connection to online child sexual exploitation activities. Reporting entities are instructed to include the term OCSE in the associated text box and provide pertinent information in the narrative, including technical cyber indicators such as IP addresses and convertible virtual currency addresses. If human trafficking or smuggling is suspected, institutions must also select SAR Field 38(h) or 38(g) respectively. The notice provides specific definitions for child sexual exploitation and related offenses to assist in the analysis of suspicious activity reports.
