Guidelines on funds' names using ESG or sustainability-related terms

ESMA establishes recommendations for UCITS management companies, AIFMs, and managers of EuVECA, EuSEF, ELTIF, and MMF funds regarding the use of ESG or sustainability-related terms in fund names. Funds using transition, social, governance, environmental, impact, or sustainability terms must meet an 80% investment threshold for relevant objectives and exclude investments in companies listed in specific articles of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/1818. Funds using sustainability-related terms must additionally commit to investing meaningfully in sustainable investments as defined in the SFDR. These guidelines apply three months after publication, with existing funds required to comply within six months of that application date.
