BSA Direct E-Filing is a secure system that allows filing institutions to electronically submit Bank Secrecy Act forms, such as Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Reports, to the BSA database via a FinCEN network. The system requires designated personnel to obtain digital certificates from government-approved authorities to access the platform and facilitates secure messaging between users and FinCEN. As of the first quarter of 2005, approximately 25% of all BSA filings and nearly 40% of Suspicious Activity Reports were filed electronically, with projections indicating the e-filing rate would reach 40% by October. The system currently supports specific forms including CTR, SAR variants, and DEP, with plans to add Money Services Business Registration forms as they become available.
