The Connecticut Department of Banking approved the opening of a Naugatuck Savings Bank branch in Ansonia, the relocation of The Bank of New Canaan's main office, and the merger of American Savings Bank into Banknorth, National Association. The department also authorized U.S. Bank National Association to establish a de novo limited trust branch in Hartford and permitted the merger of Amphenol RF Operations Employees Credit Union into Danbury Cyanamid Employees Credit Union. Enforcement actions included a $500 fine for Moors & Cabot, Inc. regarding unregistered branch activity and a permanent bar from securities business for Etienne Decembre due to fraudulent note sales.
