Notification requirements under Basel Core Principles 6 and 9

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued this directive to align local banking supervision with the Financial Sector Assessment Program and revised Basel Core Principles. It mandates that authorized institutions notify the regulator of material changes affecting shareholder suitability or substantive operational developments. While locally incorporated banks must comply immediately, foreign-incorporated institutions are expected to inform the HKMA as soon as practicable alongside their home supervisors.
