Preparedness for Human Swine Influenza Pandemic in Hong Kong

The World Health Organization escalated the pandemic alert level from Phase 4 to 5, prompting the Hong Kong Monetary Authority to urge all Authorized Institutions to immediately enhance their preparedness for a potential human swine influenza outbreak. Institutions are required to activate their Business Continuity Plans by establishing dedicated teams to monitor and implement precautionary measures, such as maintaining hygiene, updating contact lists, and securing personal protective equipment. Furthermore, Authorized Institutions must ensure readiness for serious response levels by verifying work-from-home capabilities and establishing clear crisis management structures while adhering to guidelines from the Centre for Health Protection.
