Reminder of Requirement to Use Reformed CTR Exemption Regulations and to File Designation of Exempt Person Form, TD F 90-22.53, by July 1, 2000

As of July 1, 2000, depository institutions must use the reformed Currency Transaction Report exemption regulations and file the Designation of Exempt Person Form (TD F 90-22.53) to exempt customers. The TD F 90-22.53 form becomes the only permissible means to exempt a customer, rendering all special exemptions obsolete and unenforceable. Institutions that previously established exemptions by filing a zero CTR with box 36 marked Designation of Exempt Person are not required to file the new form for those same customers.
