Removal of Syria's Designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism and Associated Sanctions List Updates; Iran-related Designations; Updates to Iran-related General Licenses
The U.S. Department of State removed Syria's designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, ending prohibitions under the Terrorism List Governments Sanctions Regulations. The State Department also revoked the Specially Designated Global Terrorist designation of al-Nusrah Front (HTS), while OFAC removed HTS from the SDN List and revoked Syria General License 25. OFAC suspended Iran General Licenses F and G as of August 24, 2026, issued new General Licenses AA and BB, and added numerous individuals and entities to the SDN List under various executive orders.
