The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) approves regulations governing the purchase of gold bars from State Mining Enterprises (EMIES) for the purpose of increasing international reserves. The BCB must acquire gold bars weighing between 5 and 10 kilograms with a minimum purity of 90%, paying 80% of the value upfront as a guarantee and settling the remainder upon presentation of purity certificates, invoices, and credit notes. The BCB retains the right to automatically debit any shortfall from EMIES accounts if the analyzed purity is lower than guaranteed, and the Board sets maximum purchase volumes semi-annually.
