2009-10-06 | Resolución 117/2009Added · Updated
The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia approves the new Regulation on Monetization, Distribution, and Destruction of Monetary Material, which replaces the previous regulation by removing provisions related to the exchange and fractionalization of monetary material. The regulation establishes specific procedures for the authorization, registration, and dissemination of new currency, mandates that financial entities distribute specific low-denomination banknotes via ATMs, and defines strict protocols for the withdrawal, verification, and physical destruction of unfit currency. It also regulates the partial or total reproduction of currency images and the handling of destroyed material debris. This regulation enters into force on January 2, 2010, simultaneously repealing Directorate Resolutions No. 047/2009 and No. 074/2009.
