Tax Loans

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued this circular to highlight prudent lending practices for the upcoming tax loan season. It advises authorized institutions to exercise caution given high bankruptcy rates and to ensure customers have stable means to service unsecured debt. The regulator further suggests that loans exceeding the tax bill or lasting longer than twelve months should be underwritten as general personal loans.
