Technical Standards for the Application of the Capital Fund Requirement for Investment Banks

Investment Banks in El Salvador, including foreign subsidiaries and national joint ventures, must maintain a capital fund ratio of at least eight percent of weighted assets at all times, including during the first three years of constitution. The capital fund must also not be less than seven percent of total third-party liabilities or the minimum subscribed share capital. Entities must report the monthly capital fund position to the Superintendency by the fifth business day of the following month (tenth for June and December) using Annexes No. 1 and 2, and weekly calculations by the second business day of each week. Remittances in transit are excluded from weighted assets. Non-compliance is sanctioned under the Financial System Supervision and Regulation Law. These Standards enter into force on October 15, 2025.
