VASP licensing via PVARA; SBP governs banking interface; crypto banned for general public

Frozen snapshot — the guide as it stood at the end of 2026-09. See the live guide for the current state.

Pakistan has established a formal regulatory framework for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) under the PVARA. While general crypto transactions for the public remain restricted or prohibited by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), licensed VASPs can operate legally. The SBP regulates the banking interface, requiring dedicated PKR accounts for licensed entities.
