The Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) sets the countercyclical buffer rate for relevant exposures in Luxembourg at 0.50% for the second quarter of 2020. This rate applies as from 1 January 2021 and is based on the recommendation of the Systemic Risk Committee, which cited converging credit-to-GDP gaps and potential systemic risks from excessive credit growth. The decision maintains the previous buffer level as a precautionary measure despite the credit-to-GDP gap remaining below the standard activation threshold.
