Adoption of Updated EDGAR Filer Manual

The Securities and Exchange Commission adopts Release 5.40 of the EDGAR Filer Manual and amends Rule 301 of Regulation S-1 to incorporate the manual by reference into the Code of Federal Regulations. The updated manual allows filers to specify Internet or CompuServe addresses for filing status messages and introduces new submission types N-14 8C and N-14 8C/A for closed-end investment companies. Several existing investment company submission types are deleted or modified, and the filing deadline for forms 24F-2NT and 24F-3NT is extended from 60 to 90 days after the fiscal year end. These changes become effective on January 26, 1998.
