Bank Rate maintained at 3.75% - July 2026 Monetary Policy Summary and Minutes

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of England voted by a majority of 6–3 to maintain Bank Rate at 3.75% at its meeting ending on 29 July 2026. This decision was taken amid continued volatility in energy prices and an expectation that CPI inflation, currently at 2.6%, will rise later in the year. The Committee judged that holding the Bank Rate, combined with tightened financial conditions, provides sufficient insurance against upside risks to inflation, though three members preferred a 0.25 percentage point increase to 4% to proactively mitigate potential second-round effects.
