Consumer Leasing (Regulation M)
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are finalizing amendments to adjust the exemption threshold for consumer leases under Regulation M. Based on the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, the threshold increases from $66,400 to $69,500 effective January 1, 2024. The Agencies also revised official commentaries to reflect this calculation method and the new threshold amount for the upcoming year.
