Foreign institutional investors must register with the CVM to operate in Brazil, submitting documents like administration and custody contracts, and maintaining a Brazilian representative. They must not acquire control of affiliated companies, pledge portfolio securities without authorization, or trade open company shares outside the stock exchange or unauthorized OTC markets. Investors operating on behalf of third parties must deliver individual investor declarations to the CVM within 15 days of the first acquisition.
