The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) announced a 'no action' approach for health and life insurers regarding their climate reporting obligations, following a government decision to remove them from the climate related disclosures (CRD) regime. This interim relief, effective from 19 June 2026, means insurers with 31 March 2026 balance dates onwards are not required to lodge climate statements for the 2025/2026 reporting period, avoiding unnecessary compliance costs. The FMA will monitor legislative progress and may revisit this approach if changes are not enacted before the 2026/2027 reporting period, at which point obligations would resume without further 'no action' relief.
