Resolution 011/2002 Approving Modifications to the Foreign Exchange Position Regulation of the Financial System

The Central Bank of Bolivia amends its Foreign Exchange Position Regulation to redefine 'national currency with value maintenance' specifically in relation to the US Dollar and the Housing Development Unit (UFV), replacing previous ambiguous terminology. The resolution updates definitions for overbought and oversold positions, mandates that calculations for foreign currency and national currency with value maintenance be performed independently, and clarifies that UFV-denominated assets and liabilities are treated as national currency for control purposes. It also adjusts thresholds for overbought positions, limiting them to 80% of net tangible equity when combined with foreign currency overbought positions, and allows entities with a capital adequacy coefficient above 50% to maintain overbought positions up to 100% of net tangible equity. These modifications enter into force on February 15, 2002.
