The regulator restructured the Banking Supervision Handbook into the Bank Prudential Requirements following a 2015 regulatory stocktake and a comprehensive Capital Review. New capital adequacy rules took effect on 1 October 2021, raising minimum capital requirements to 18% for large banks and 16% for smaller banks to enhance system safety.
