SEC Staff Accounting Bulletin: SAB 108

Registrants must quantify current year misstatements by evaluating the impact of correcting all errors, including both the carryover and reversing effects of prior year misstatements, under both the rollover and iron curtain approaches. Financial statements require adjustment if either approach results in a misstatement that is material after considering all relevant quantitative and qualitative factors. Registrants are not required to restate prior period financial statements for fiscal years ending on or before November 15, 2006, provided management properly applied its previous approach, but must report the cumulative effect of initial application in the first fiscal year ending after that date.
