The Hong Kong Monetary Authority directs Registered Institutions to implement mandatory two-factor authentication for Internet trading services in alignment with Securities and Futures Commission guidelines. This requirement follows industry consensus reached during regulatory consultations aimed at mitigating sophisticated cyber attacks targeting customers. The HKMA will assess compliance through its supervisory process and incorporate these security controls into the Supervisory Policy Manual module TM-E-1.
