SFC urges licensed firms to guard against emerging AI-enabled cyber threats

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) urges licensed firms, particularly internet brokers and virtual asset trading platforms, to implement robust cybersecurity measures against threats enabled by frontier artificial intelligence models. Licensed firms must review and enhance their frameworks regarding patching, vulnerability management, detection, monitoring, incident response, and recovery. Senior management bears primary responsibility for gatekeeping cyber resilience and protecting client assets from unauthorized access or misappropriation. The SFC will conduct thematic reviews to assess preparedness and take supervisory action as needed.
