Disclosure of Order Execution and Routing Practices

The Securities and Exchange Commission adopts Rule 11Ac1–5, requiring market centers trading national market system securities to make monthly electronic reports available to the public containing uniform statistical measures of execution quality. Rule 11Ac1–6 requires broker-dealers routing customer orders in equity and option securities to make quarterly reports publicly available that identify the venues to which orders are routed and disclose relationships such as payment for order flow. Additionally, broker-dealers must disclose to customers, upon request, the specific venues to which their individual orders were routed. These rules become effective on January 30, 2001, with compliance deadlines detailed in the release.
