Amendments to Swap Data Recordkeeping and Reporting Requirements for Cleared Swaps

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission proposes amendments to Part 45 regulations to clarify swap data reporting obligations for cleared swaps among swap data repositories, clearing organizations, and market participants. These changes address the unique structure of cleared transactions where original swaps are extinguished and replaced by new swaps upon clearing, aiming to improve data quality and regulatory transparency. The proposal seeks to harmonize reporting workflows and reduce systemic risk by ensuring accurate and efficient collection of swap data in accordance with the Dodd-Frank Act.
