Retail Foreign Exchange Transactions

The Securities and Exchange Commission adopts Rule 15b12-1 to permit registered broker-dealers to engage in retail forex transactions, provided they comply with the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, applicable rules and regulations, and the rules of their self-regulatory organizations. The rule is effective from July 16, 2013, through July 31, 2016, at which point it will expire unless further action is taken. This final rule substantially adopts the form of the previously established interim final temporary rule, allowing broker-dealers, including those also registered as Futures Commission Merchants, to continue offering these services under the specified regulatory framework.
