2020-11-24 | CFTC Staff Letter 20-40Added · Updated
The Market Participants Division extends existing regulatory relief previously granted to European Union entities under No-Action Letters 12-70 and 13-45 to United Kingdom entities. This extension supersedes Letter 19-09 and becomes effective as of the Brexit Transition Period Expiration Date, which is anticipated to be December 31, 2020. The relief allows UK entities to rely on exemptions from registration requirements for introducing brokers and commodity trading advisors, as well as specific risk mitigation techniques for uncleared swaps, subject to the conditions contained in the original letters.
