Commodity Futures Trading Commission Public Rulemaking Procedures
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a final rule amending 17 CFR Part 13 to eliminate redundant provisions governing its internal rulemaking processes. The Commission determined that codifying these procedures was unnecessary because the Administrative Procedure Act already governs the rulemaking process, and retaining the outdated rules created potential ambiguity. The amended regulation retains only the procedure for filing petitions for rulemaking, which has been updated to allow electronic submissions and clarified to ensure transparency and consistency.
