Delegation of Authority to General Counsel of the Commission
The Securities and Exchange Commission is revising its regulations to delegate authority to the General Counsel for determining procedural requests and non-dispositive prehearing matters in administrative proceedings. This delegation aims to increase the efficiency of the adjudicatory process by allowing the General Counsel to handle routine issues such as scheduling, briefing modifications, and motion rulings. The rule explicitly excludes dispositive functions and allows for delegation to the Secretary of the Commission when separation of functions requirements make the General Counsel's involvement inappropriate.
