The Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a final rule amending its rules of practice to consolidate delegations of authority within its Office of General Counsel. The amendments replace all references to the former Deputy General Counsel for Opinions and Review with the General Counsel, who is now authorized to sub-delegate this authority to any supervised Commission employee. These organizational updates, effective January 8, 2013, align the regulatory text with the internal elimination of the deputy position and streamline procedural decision-making across 17 CFR Parts 9, 12, and 171.
