Enhanced Disclosure and New Prospectus Delivery Option for Registered Open-End Management Investment Companies

The Securities and Exchange Commission adopts amendments to Form N-1A requiring mutual funds to include a summary section at the front of the statutory prospectus containing key information in plain English, such as investment objectives, risks, costs, and performance. The rule establishes a new delivery option allowing funds to satisfy prospectus delivery obligations by providing a summary prospectus directly to investors while making the full statutory prospectus available on an Internet website. Funds utilizing this option must send the statutory prospectus to any investor who requests it. Additional amendments require exchange-traded funds to disclose specific information regarding share purchasing, total return, and premium or discount data.
