Firm Quote and Trade-Through Disclosure Rules for Options

The Securities and Exchange Commission extends the compliance date for Rule 11Ac1–7 from October 1, 2001, to April 1, 2002. This rule requires broker-dealers to disclose to customers when listed options orders are executed at a price inferior to a better published quote, unless the transaction occurs on an exchange participating in an approved intermarket linkage plan or involves a block trade. The extension allows options exchanges additional time to finalize technical specifications and implement the linkage plan before the disclosure obligations take effect.
