Firm Quote and Trade-Through Disclosure Rules for Options

The Securities and Exchange Commission proposes to amend Rule 11Ac1-1 to require options exchanges and market makers to publish firm quotes for specified contract sizes. A new Rule 11Ac1-7 would require broker-dealers to disclose on customer confirmations when an order is executed at a price inferior to a better published quote, unless the transaction occurs on a market participating in an approved intermarket linkage plan. Comments on these proposals must be submitted on or before September 18, 2000.
