Fund of Funds Investments

The Securities and Exchange Commission adopts rules 12d1-1, 12d1-2, and 12d1-3 under the Investment Company Act of 1940, broadening the ability of registered investment companies to acquire shares of other funds beyond existing statutory prohibitions. The rules permit unlimited investments in money market funds, allow affiliated funds of funds to acquire unlimited shares of other registered funds within the same complex, and permit unaffiliated funds of funds to invest in other funds subject to specific conditions. The Commission also amends Forms N-1A, N-2, N-3, N-4, and N-6 to require funds of funds to aggregate and disclose the expenses of acquired funds in their prospectuses. These amendments require disclosure in all new registration statements and post-effective amendments filed on or after January 2, 2007.
