Joint Rule Establishing Data Standards Under the Financial Data Transparency Act of 2022

Nine federal financial regulatory agencies and the Department of the Treasury jointly established final data standards to ensure interoperability, machine-readability, and open licensing across their respective regulatory collections of information. The rule mandates specific identifiers for legal entities, financial instruments, dates, geographic locations, and currencies, while establishing nonproprietary transmission and taxonomy formats. Effective October 1, 2026, the standards will be incorporated into subsequent agency-specific rulemakings without immediately altering existing reporting obligations.
