Net Capital Rule

The Securities and Exchange Commission amends Rule 15c3-1 to permit broker-dealers to use theoretical option pricing models or a strategy-based methodology for calculating net capital requirements for listed options and related positions. The amendments become effective on September 1, 1997, allowing broker-dealers to apply the new rules prior to that date. The changes simplify the net capital treatment of options and more accurately reflect the risk inherent in broker-dealer options positions.
