Prohibition Against Conflicts of Interest in Certain Securitizations

The Securities and Exchange Commission extends the comment period for its proposed rule implementing Section 621 of the Dodd-Frank Act regarding material conflicts of interest in asset-backed securitizations. The deadline for public comments is moved to February 13, 2012, to align with the Volcker Rule Proposal and allow stakeholders additional time to analyze the interplay between the two regulations. This extension applies to Proposed Rule 127B under the Securities Act of 1933, which would prohibit certain conflicts of interest for persons creating and distributing asset-backed securities.
