The OCC, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, FDIC, SEC, and CFTC propose amendments to Volcker Rule regulations to align them with the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. The proposal excludes insured depository institutions and their affiliates with $10 billion or less in total consolidated assets and five percent or less in trading assets and liabilities from the definition of banking entity. Additionally, the agencies propose to permit a banking entity to share a name with a hedge fund or private equity fund under specified circumstances.
