SFC welcomes new initiatives to advance Hong Kong’s fixed income and currency markets

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) welcomes new measures announced by the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) to further develop Hong Kong’s fixed income and currency (FIC) markets. These include the development of an electronic FIC trading platform by CFETS and HKEX, and the acceptance of onshore China Government Bonds and policy bank bonds under Northbound Bond Connect as eligible collateral for HKEX clearing houses by end of 2026. Additionally, the SFC is discussing with the PBoC to enhance Swap Connect by including FDR007 as a reference rate by Q4 2026, collectively enriching Hong Kong's FIC market ecosystem and advancing its role as a global hub.
