Unlisted Trading Privileges

The Securities and Exchange Commission adopts new rules and amendments to existing rules concerning unlisted trading privileges (UTP) under Section 12(f) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. The rules require national securities exchanges to wait until the opening of business on the day following the initial public offering (IPO) of a security on the listing exchange before trading that security pursuant to UTP. The rules also mandate that exchanges maintain rules and oversight mechanisms to ensure fair and orderly markets and investor protection regarding UTP. These final rules become effective on April 21, 1995.
