Exemptions for Security-Based Swaps
The Securities and Exchange Commission adopted amendments to extend the expiration dates of interim final rules providing exemptions from the Securities Act, Exchange Act, and Trust Indenture Act for certain security-based swaps. These exemptions, which apply to swaps that were security-based swap agreements prior to July 16, 2011, are extended from February 11, 2017, to February 11, 2018. The Commission determined that this extension is necessary to avoid disrupting the security-based swaps market while it continues to evaluate potential regulatory actions regarding these instruments.
