Extension of Exemptions for Security-Based Swaps

The Securities and Exchange Commission adopts amendments to interim final rules that exempt certain security-based swaps from registration requirements under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and the Trust Indenture Act of 1939. These amendments extend the expiration dates of the exemptions from February 11, 2014, to February 11, 2017. The exemptions apply to security-based swaps that were defined as security-based swap agreements prior to July 16, 2011, and are entered into between eligible contract participants. The amendments become effective on February 10, 2014.
