Regional Office Reorganization

The Securities and Exchange Commission amends 17 CFR parts 200, 201, 202, 203, 209, 230, 232, 240, 249, 249b, 260, 270, 274, 275, and 279 to reflect the replacement of five regional and six district offices with eleven regional offices reporting directly to Commission Headquarters. The rules delete references to 'district offices' and 'District Administrators,' replacing them with 'regional offices' and 'Regional Directors,' and update the geographic allocation of jurisdiction for each of the eleven regional offices. The amendments also revise office addresses and public reference room procedures, specifying that registrants such as brokers, dealers, and investment advisers must file reports in the regional office corresponding to their geographic location. These final rule amendments become effective on June 5, 2008.
