Credit institutions must maintain a Tier 1 core capital buffer calculated by multiplying the weighted amount of retail exposures to natural persons secured by non-business immovable property located in Belgium by 9 percent. This macroprudential measure applies to credit institutions defined in Book II and Book III, Title II of the Law of 25 April 2014. The regulation enters into force on 1 May 2022, subject to the adoption of the European Commission's implementing act, and ceases to have effect on 30 April 2023.
