Federated Municipal Funds request that the SEC Staff extend a prior no-action position to permit the use of Standard & Poor's Securities Evaluations, Inc. (SPSE) as an independent pricing service for transactions under Rule 17a-7 involving municipal securities for which market quotations are not readily available. The funds propose to use SPSE prices, which are comparable to those previously used by FT Interactive Data, to satisfy the independent current market price condition of Rule 17a-7 without triggering enforcement action under Section 17(a) of the Investment Company Act of 1940. This request applies to specific open and closed-end management investment companies advised by Federated Investment Management Company that invest primarily in municipal securities.
