Shareholder Reports and Quarterly Portfolio Disclosure of Registered Management Investment Companies; Proposed Rule

The Securities and Exchange Commission proposes amendments to permit registered management investment companies to include a summary portfolio schedule in shareholder reports, provided the complete schedule is filed with the Commission and available to shareholders free of charge. The proposals require funds to include a tabular or graphic presentation of portfolio holdings in shareholder reports and mandate that registered open-end management investment companies disclose fund expenses borne by shareholders during the reporting period. Additionally, the amendments would require open-end funds to include Management’s Discussion of Fund Performance in their annual reports and require all funds to file complete portfolio schedules on a quarterly basis using new Form N-Q. Comments on these proposals must be received by February 14, 2003.
