Securities and Exchange Commission Proposed Rule on Exchange-Traded Funds

The Securities and Exchange Commission proposes a new rule under the Investment Company Act to allow eligible exchange-traded funds to operate without obtaining individual exemptive orders. The proposal also rescinds certain prior exemptive orders and introduces disclosure amendments to Forms N-1A, N-8B-2, and N-CEN to provide investors with additional information regarding ETF trading costs. These measures aim to create a consistent, transparent, and efficient regulatory framework that facilitates greater competition and innovation among ETFs.
